Welcome to your favourite Wimbledon local

Situated right on the edge of Wimbledon Common, our award-winning, history-steeped pub (your little slice of village life in the heart of London) is as welcoming as it gets. Think hearty-and-delicious pub classics alongside flavour-packed, seasonally-inspired specials (the kind of plates that taste like proper winter comfort), all served up in a cosy, community-first setting.

Christmas in Wimbledon

This Christmas, step inside from the cold and settle by our fire (roaring, glowing, utterly-toasty) with a glass of mulled wine warming your hands. Our holly-trimmed corners, twinkle-lit beams, and comfort-packed plates (the kind that taste like tradition with a little extra magic) make us the perfect place to celebrate. Think of us as your Christmas hideaway - cosy, cheerful, and made for memory-making.

Pies, Puddings and paddles

We’re famous for our home-made comfort food and proper, real-deal ales (the kind that make you want to hunker down and while away an afternoon). Using only the freshest, seasonal ingredients, our golden-crusted, flavour-packed pies are a must-try (trust us, they’re the stuff of local legend) especially when paired with one of our carefully-curated beer paddles. And don’t skip pudding… our sweet, indulgent, save-room-at-all-costs puds are worth every last spoonful.

Home is where
the Hand is

Right on Wimbledon Common, our homely, village-style pub whisks you away from the hustle-and-bustle of busy London life (seriously, you won’t believe how peaceful it feels). Dating back to 1831, it was originally a bakery (and yes, you can still dine in the cozy, oven-filled nook!). We’ve been proudly serving up a fantastic, ever-changing selection of beers and hearty, traditional food to all who wander in.

Our menu is packed full of comforting, tried-and-tested dishes, mouthwatering Sunday roasts, irresistible puddings, and, of course, our famous, one-of-a-kind pies (they’re show-stopping).

This place is the definition of your go-to, countryside-style pub… right in the heart of London.

Andrew and the team look forward to welcoming you!

Christmas on the Common

We’re Wimbledon’s best cosy-wonky pub (just ask the regulars), a snug little spot where many a cracker’s been pulled and carol belted beneath our low-slung beams and fairy-lit corners. And when it comes to Christmas parties? We’ve been hosting them since 1831, so we know a thing or two about putting on a proper holly-trimmed, fizz-poured, laughter-round-every-table kind of do (with a side of mince pies, of course).

This Christmas, join us fireside (roaring-crackling-glorious) with a warming glass of mulled wine in hand and that unmistakable just-home-from-a-brisk-walk-on-the-Common feeling. With festive-nostalgia-filled nooks, holly-draped beams and proper heart-hugging food, we’re your home-away-from-home this Christmas.

Nostalgic Sunday roasts

Sunday roasts in our warm-and-welcoming pub transport you straight to the countryside (minus the wellies and long drive). Think giant, golden-and-crispy Yorkshire puddings, perfectly crispy-yet-fluffy roast potatoes, top-quality, melt-in-your-mouth cuts of meat, and a rainbow of fresh, seasonal veg, all topped off with rich, flavour-packed gravy. And let’s not forget the utterly irresistible, save-room-or-regret-it puddings (seriously, you won’t want to miss them), all enjoyed in the heart of our cosy, chatter-filled pub.

 Traditional pub food

We’re famous for our home-made comfort food and real ales. Sourced from the freshest, seasonal, British ingredients, our pies and Sunday Roasts are a real must-try and pair perfectly with our award winning beer paddles. If you are looking for something a bit lighter, we have plenty to choose from. Don’t forget to leave room for our delicious puddings…

Book a bespoke beer masterclass

Ale enthusiast, connoisseur and landlord Andrew is offering the wonderful opportunity for groups of  6-12 to learn the ins and outs of real ale. Taking guests into the pubs cellar to explain the history of the pub, the process of beer making, tapping beer and the part we’re all really here for… Tasting different styles of beer!

Make an enquiry and Andrew will get back to you with all of the details.

Andrew and the team always make us feel welcome, staff are polite and efficient and clearly work so hard to ensure the best possible experience for their customers. We normally stop in once a week on our dog walk for a pint but this time we came for dinner. I had a delicious steak, cooked to my preference with the best peppercorn sauce I’ve ever had! Would highly recommend booking as this place is SO popular especially at the weekend but we were able to grab one of the outside tables which they reserve for walk-ins. Thanks for a lovely evening team!

Cozy, country-style pub with numerous rooms and outdoor seating by the Wimbledon common. Quality food, prompt service and a great selection of tap & cask ales. Make sure to book ahead for Sunday roast!

If I could give more stars I would – top notch. We had a couple of issues this evening, but life isn’t perfect and you judge not by perfection but by how things are handled in its absence. We were blown away by the outstanding attention and service we received. Every member of staff made us feel welcome and part of the furniture. I’m confident that the Hand in Hand is going to become a regular go to local pub for us, with its wonderful surroundings, lovely people, yummy food and excellent choice of drinks.
